Dr. Peng Liu, Director of the Laurence H. Baker Center for Bioinformatics and Biological Statistics, leads research in statistical genomics, bioinformatics, and high-dimensional omics data analysis. Driven by the challenges posed by modern high-throughput biological data, Dr. Liu develops innovative statistical methods to explore, mine, and draw inferences from complex datasets. As technological advances make it easier to collect massive amounts of phenomic, metabolomic, transcriptomic, and microbiomic data within a single study, her work addresses the critical gap in computational methods capable of integrating these diverse data types. Through her PSI project, Dr. Liu is developing robust statistical approaches to jointly model large-scale, multi-omics datasets and create an integrative framework for understanding complex biological processes and improving phenotype prediction.
