Baker Center for Bioinformatics and Biological Statistics

Two types of awards are available to support diverse new research interactions at ISU in bioinformatics and computational biology with the aim of supporting especially promising new research projects. The applications should explain how the interaction is being initiated, how the project will benefit from this new interaction, and how further support will be obtained.

2008 Baker Center Postdoctoral Fellowship

Baker Center postdoctoral fellowships will be awarded on March 31, 2008, each for $17,500. This is intended to be approximately one-half of annual support. The fellowship is for one year only and is not renewable. Applicants should submit their CV, their ISU Sponsor’s CV, and a short 5 page research proposal. The source of additional support for the position must be identified. In addition they should have three letters of recommendation sent to the address below. Plans for subsequent submission of an application for either a postdoctoral fellowship or a regular grant must be described. The awardee should state their willingness to participate in other relevant grant applications.

2008 Baker Center Visiting Professor Support

Baker Center Visiting Professor Support will be awarded on March 31, 2008, up to $22,500. Funds can be used for either salary support or for research support. This is intended to supplement any other support that may be available. This fellowship must be used within the following year and is not renewable. Applicants should submit their CV, their ISU Sponsor’s CV, theirs and their ISU sponsor’s present and pending grant support, and a short 5 page research proposal. The source of any additional support for the visit must be identified. Plans for subsequent submission of a joint grant application must be described.

Applications are due on February 29, 2008, and the sponsors must be Baker Center faculty. A total of three total awards, of either type, will be made, but awards will only be made if candidates meet the qualifications.
