Systems BiologyModern biolgy research is characterized by an integration of scale. Scientists study phenomena in a context ranging from the molecular to the organismal and population levels. Information from vast diverse databases are brought to bear on individual research question. The Systems Biology focus group at ISU consists of faculty and students from biology, mathematics, statistics, and computer science who engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research in biology from a genome perspective. High performance computing lies at the heart of Systems Biology since it typically involves the combinatorics of combining data in different innovative ways. |
