The purpose of this program is to provide undergraduate and graduate students majoring in sciences and engineering with an introduction to integrated biology and Systems Biology. No prior experience in these fields is required. The CSBSI program consists of two parts: a 2-week Short Course in Computational and Systems Biology and a 6-week Summer Internship. 1. Short Course in Computational and Systems Biology, June 8 - June 20, 2008 2. Summer Internship, June 23 - August 1, 2008 The ISU-CSBSI will award up to 12 studentships to CSBSI Fellows. Each studentship will cover a $4,000 stipend over the entire 8 weeks as well as costs of travel and living. Eligible students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Undergraduate students must have completed their sophomore year and graduate students must be within the first two year of entry into their graduate education program. An undergraduate student is a student enrolled in a degree program (part-time or full-time) leading to a baccalaureate degree. Students who have received associates degree and are transferring from one institution to another but are enrolled at either institution during the intervening summer are eligible to participate. We particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups, including women, minorities, and persons with disabilities. Successful applicants need to demonstrate a strong interest in a career path in bioinformatics at the graduate level and beyond. To guarantee consideration, applications must be received by April 7, 2008.
